How it started…

Like the label on our first bottle says—it probably started over a gin. One BBQ, a couple of G&Ts, and a spark of what if? That’s all it took to start the story. And so far, it’s taken us all the way to Scotland. So much for being the quiet ones.

Truth is, life threw its share of chaos our way — some good, some not. But one thing became crystal clear: something had to change. Working hard just to make it to the weekend, only to be too burned out to live? No thanks.

We wanted more than that. We wanted freedom. Purpose. A life we actually chose.

So, we did something most people wouldn’t. We walked away from two solid careers and dove headfirst into a new life. Packed our bags, took a wild swing, and nearly moved to France. (Spoiler: that didn’t quite stick.)

Sure, it looked good on paper—sunshine, space, our own business. But it didn’t feel right. It wasn’t the right kind of different. A new postcode doesn’t mean a new life if you’re still stuck in the same rhythm.

How it’s going…

One lucky scroll later, we saw the place; a small farm in Scotland with land, room to grow, space to breathe. We looked at the pictures and knew: this is where the real story begins.

What we’ve built since isn’t just a craft distillery. It’s graft, it’s mud, it’s laughter, mistakes, and small wins. It’s animals, trees, community, and craft. It’s late nights, early mornings, and choosing each day with purpose and love.

The small-batch gin we make is just the tip of the iceberg. It's how we share the journey, how we invite you in.

Because Twistillery isn’t about the perfect life. It’s about a better one.

We’re writing our own story, in the hope you will write your own story too.

2024

2024 saw us up-rooted and moving 400 miles. After a long search we found the perfect place to make a new start.

The North Aberdeenshire coast provided an impressive backdrop for a farm and distillery rolled into one.

The real work towards our dream could begin.

2025

One year in and we were not wrong, work is definitely the word!

A years graft has seen a dilapidated building turned into a usable space, tired fields beginning to fill with life and considerable paperwork.

A ways to go though to launching gin, but some fun side projects rearing hens and plant sales. Every day is for learning something new.

2026

Undeniably the pinnacle of our experiences so far, we launched our first gin!

2026 has certainly upped the ante in terms of hard work. The hours get longer, the tasks pile up but we can't believe how far we've come looking back.

Trees planted (in their hundreds!), lambs, goat kids, launching our online shop and attending our first farmers markets.

What's the latest?

Time flies in business and farming, 2026 has brought it's challenges so far but May 13th brought lambing and kidding to a close for this year with the arrival of our final goat kid.

We look ahead to the next big events of the year; the opening of our on-site shop and the harvest of our first home-grown botanicals.
